Pride Day 2026

September 26, 2026

WHEREAS, Pride Day is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and to affirm the values of equality, respect, and belonging for all people; and

WHEREAS, the City of Statesville values the diversity of its residents and is dedicated to fostering a community where every individual is welcomed and empowered to participate fully in civic life; and

WHEREAS, organizations such as Statesville Pride Alliance, along with community members, families, and friends, provide support, education, and advocacy that strengthen understanding and promote acceptance throughout our community; and

WHEREAS, Pride Day serves as a reminder of the importance of treating all people with dignity and respect and encourages continued efforts to build a community where everyone feels safe, valued, and included; and

WHEREAS, the Statesville Pride Parade and Festival provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to come together in celebration, fellowship, and appreciation of the diverse experiences and perspectives that enrich our city; and

WHEREAS, the City of Statesville recognizes that a strong community is built through mutual respect, compassion, and a commitment to ensuring that all individuals have the opportunity to live, work, and thrive;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, J. Douglas Hendrix, Mayor of the City of Statesville, do hereby proclaim September 26, 2026, as PRIDE DAY in the City of Statesville and encourage all residents to join in recognizing the contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals, promoting understanding and acceptance, and celebrating the diversity that makes our community stronger. 

IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have set my Hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of Statesville to be affixed this 26th day of September 2026.
