Regular Agenda

Statesville Regional Airport Rezoning

Council unanimously approved the first reading of a request to rezone approximately 481.5 acres associated with the Statesville Regional Airport to Heavy Industrial. The change would create a uniform zoning designation that reflects the airport’s current operations and long-term plans. No one spoke during the public hearing.

Stormwater and Floodplain Administration Updates

Council unanimously approved amendments to portions of the City Code and Unified Development Code related to stormwater oversight and floodplain administration. The changes clarify staff responsibilities and consolidate related regulations. No one spoke during the public hearing.

Wall Street Havenwood Subdivision

Council approved the first reading of a conditional rezoning request for approximately 139 acres at the end of Wall Street. The proposal would allow a subdivision containing single-family detached homes and duplexes. Four residents spoke in favor of the request during the public hearing. The Council vote was tied, with Mayor Hendrix casting the deciding vote in favor of the rezoning.

Moose Club Road Subdivision

Council denied a conditional rezoning request for approximately 19 acres along Moose Club Road. The proposal would have allowed up to 56 single-family homes.

No one spoke during the public hearing. The request was denied by a 5–4 vote, with Mayor Hendrix casting the deciding vote against the rezoning.

Because the rezoning was denied, the related annexation request was not considered.

Municipal Operations Center

Council voted 7–1 to approve an additional $2.38 million in design services for Phases 3 and 4 of the Municipal Operations Center project.

The expanded project includes a new administrative building, covered parking, perimeter storage and other improvements serving Public Works, Public Utilities, Statesville Public Power and Stormwater operations.
