As Assistant Chief of Communications and Technology, Deal will oversee the Communications and Records Division and the Technical Services Unit. These areas include emergency communications, police records, crime analysis, evidence management, fleet operations and department technology.
His responsibilities will include supporting the employees who manage calls for service and department records, overseeing the proper management of evidence and information, and helping the department evaluate technology that supports officers and improves services to the community.
Assistant Chief Anthony Hamby
Hamby joined the Statesville Police Department as a police officer recruit in 2011. Over nearly 15 years with the department, he has advanced through the ranks, serving as a police officer, sergeant, master police sergeant and captain.
As Assistant Chief of Support Services, Hamby will oversee the Community Services and Professional Standards divisions. These areas include school resource officers, community services and resources, traffic, training and recruiting, accreditation and other administrative support functions.
In this role, Hamby will help guide the department’s recruitment and professional development efforts, support programs that connect officers with residents and community partners and oversee functions that help ensure employees follow established professional standards and best practices.
